Villa Barbentane

This ancient Girls' School, has been completely renovated by an independent women working "in situ", respecting the original volumes, openings and materials. The design she chose for this 17th century farmhouse got it a report on the Art and Decoration magazine. In the heart of the historical center of a medieval village and it gives you all the charm of its old stones and its refined, comfortable interior. A charming vaulted basement sheltered the zen living room, while the bedrooms, like little private apartments, boast a mezzanine and an outstanding bathroom area. The kitchens in the spirit of a grocery shop counter, marries modern an ancient materials, and opens onto the living room. In the continuity, the dining area is flooded with sunlight, thanks to the French window of wrought ironwork. The latest leads to the garden.

The enticing, intimate garden (300 sqm) invites you to relax. The artist devised different stone levels for this ancient playground dedicated to the flora. The old washhouse basin is now a swimming pool, and the shaded courtyard with its comfortable bench is a perfect place to relax.

This house is an ideal place for lovers of peace and serenity, in a beautiful province, and a paradise-like village (less than 4000 inhabitants). At summertime, you can leave your car and walk discover the surroundings (Alpilles) by foot or by bike. At Christmas time the atmosphere is especially charming and auspicious for blissful feeling: midnight mass, Provencal ceremony (the Pastoral) as well as the local traditional Christmas Eve and its 13 desserts... You are welcome to feel at home.

• Living room: There are two living rooms. The ground floor living room has comfy armchairs grouped around a fireplace at one end. Dining facilities are placed at the other. The rooms are decorated with restored antique furniture. Throughout there are many artisan features. Descending down a spiral staircase, the second living room is a transformed cellar; delightfully cool in the summer and just right for reading, with coffee table and three sofas.
  
  
• Kitchen: Fully equipped to a very high standard, with its original features, it will inspire the cook in you. It has beamed ceilings, two ‘bistro style’ breakfast tables overlooking the terrace.
  
  
• Bedrooms: There is accommodation for up to 7 people in three bedrooms, each with bathroom facilities. The ground floor bedroom has a king size bed (180 cms) and a large bathroom adjoining with shower, which has direct access to the garden and pool area through French wimdows. The second bedroom is a double and has a wonderful spiral staircase leading up to the bed, on a mezzanine level. The bathroom for this room has a beautiful, freestanding bath. The third bedroom is a very special suite with a double bed and bathroom. There is also a study if you need to work.
  
  
• Outside: The courtyard comprises terrace areas for outdoor eating. A barbecue corner with shaded seating and a sunbathing quarter. With its many inventive features, the interior courtyard is artistic and innovative.
  
  
• Swimming pool: The 10m by 3m pool with its fountain is a highlight.
